Sade Anding, a Houston cocktail waitress, said Conrad Murray phoned her at 11:51 a.m. June 25, 2009, the day Jackson died of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol. Murray, 58, a cardiologist, is on trial on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the famed singer’s death. He has pleaded not guilty.

Five or six minutes into the 11-minute call, Anding said, she started telling Murray about what she was doing that day. “That’s when I realized he was no longer on the phone,” she said. “I said, ‘Hello? Hello?’ I put the phone closer to my ear. I heard mumbling of voices that sounded like the phone was maybe in his pocket or something, and then I heard coughing, and nobody answered.”

She said she didn’t recognize the voices. She said “hello” and “are you there?” several more times, hung up and called back twice with no answer, she testified. “I tried texting him over and over, and there was no response.”

Later, she said, she learned that Jackson had died.
