Griffin unanimous choice as NBA top rookie

High-flying Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin was named the NBA Rookie of the Year Wednesday, the first unanimous choice for the award in 21 years.

Every first-place vote in a poll of 118 media members went to Griffin, who won by a landslide over Washington’s John Wall.

The last player to earn top rookie honours unanimously was San Antonio’s David Robinson in 1990. The only other unanimous Rookie of the Year selection was Ralph Sampson in 1984.

Griffin led all first-year players in scoring and rebounding while playing in all 82 games for the Clippers.
