Los Angeles murder rate at forty-year low

The murder rate in Los Angeles has continued to drop to levels not seen since 1967.

Although most thought that the poor economic conditions would stir an increase in crime, which is the norm in most big cities, the exact opposite has occurred for homicides.

Murders within the city have decreased by one-third since 2007, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. The city will register fewer than 300 homicides, last seen in 1967.
